Tips for transitioning into a low-fat whole food, plant-based diet

  1. Surround yourself with resources and health authorities on vegan nutrition
  2. Work with a coach. Contact me for a free consultation.
  3. Crowd out processed foods with whole-foods
  4. Remove animal products and oils
  5. When choosing restaurants or recipes, think ethnic: The restaurants that seem to have a tremendous number of delicious plant-based choices are Indian, Japanese, Greek, Chinese, Thai, Spanish, and Mexican, so eat the foods you already love that happen to be vegan!
  6. Make friends!  Checkout meetup.com for vegan groups in your area

Before adopting a plant-based diet

  • Biggest Tip: PLAN
  • Understand the nutrients your body needs (Kristin Wuhrman can help) when you start transitioning into a Plant-Based Diet.
  • A vegan diet can be healthy and have many positive health benefits, but ensure that it's well planned and nutritionally balanced. Make sure it "includes whole grains, colorful fruits and vegetables and heart-healthy fats." - "Vandana Sheth, RD., C.D.E" Huffington Post. Online.
  • You will impact many more people than you realize
  • You will be pleasantly surprised at who your biggest supporters are
  • Giving up the cheese isn't nearly as hard as it seems
  • Being plant-based doesn't have to be more expensive, but it can be once you become more educated on quality of food, farm markets, etc.
  • Most of your meals will be one-pot miracles
  • Drink plenty of water, as your body may not be used to getting all that extra fiber from the added fruits and vegetables.
